About the Artist

Mark Daniells is no stranger to island life. Born in California, Mark spent most of his childhood in Micronesia on the islands of Palau and Guam as well as the Philippines. The majority of his life however, has been spent on the island of Kauai in Hawaii where he owned and operated his gallery in the small town of Hanalei for over 30 years. Currently residing in New Zealand, Mark continues to paint the beauty of the islands.

Having mastered the arts of surfing, paddling and spear fishing, Mark has built an intimate relationship with the sea, which is apparent in many of his works. Vibrant and lush displays of colour are expected in his paintings as well as detailed lighting and shadows, adding depth and realism to his work. Most often he enjoys painting large oil and acrylic on canvas. Another favourite medium is watercolour as well as original woodblock prints. Known for his natural landscapes and marine life works of art, Mark is able to create unique pieces using his knowledge of light and colour.  In addition to having a natural artistic talent, Mark also graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts from The University of California at Berkeley, with an emphasis in Printmaking.
Mark has artwork in the private collections of many clients internationally. Some of the notable owners of his artwork have included: Bill & Hillary Clinton, Al & Tipper Gore, Meryl Streep, Clint Eastwood, Anthony Hopkins, Robert Trent Jones & family, Bill Davidow of Intel, Jess Jackson & Barbara Bank of Kendall Jackson Winery, Gina Davis, Rob Reiner, Michael Chriton and many more.

Mark has exhibited his art in many galleries and shows around the world in places such as Hawaii, California, Tahiti, New Zealand and Denmark. Aside from the success he has achieved in his art career, Mark's most treasured award is simply being able to paint and share the enjoyment it brings with others.
"Art flows through us like waves, and we are the vessels for which it manifests into reality." - Mark Daniells
